"Marking a departure from the usual practice of nationally based pavilions, this year's Venice Biennale sees the inauguration of the first ever city-based pavilion — The Manchester Pavilion. Housed in a fully functioning bar in the Dorsoduro district of Venice, the Manchester Pavilion offers to extend and develop the Pavilion model by being: a) fully licensed; b) open late; c) not having any space taken up with works of art."
